Earn N' Burn Fantasy Sports — NFL Football

Applies to: 2026 NFL Season  ·  This module governs football-specific mechanics only. For platform-wide rules, see the ENB Master Rulebook.

The ENB Football Module defines the rules, scoring, roster structure, and gameplay elements specific to NFL‑based Earn N' Burn contests. These rules operate in addition to the ENB Master Rulebook.

01Lineup Structure

Each week, contestants select a lineup of 11 players from any NFL team. The lineup must fill the following slots exactly:

QB
Quarterback
S-FLX
Superflex QB/RB/WR/TE
RB
Running Back
RB
Running Back
WR
Wide Receiver
WR
Wide Receiver
WR
Wide Receiver
FLEX
RB / WR / TE
TE
Tight End
K
Kicker
DST
Defense / ST
  • QB — 1 quarterback required. Any NFL QB.
  • S-FLX (Superflex) — 1 superflex spot: may be filled by any QB, RB, WR, or TE. Starting a second QB here is a common high-ceiling strategy.
  • RB — 2 running backs required.
  • WR — 3 wide receivers required.
  • FLEX — 1 flex spot: may be filled by any RB, WR, or TE.
  • TE — 1 tight end required.
  • K — 1 kicker required.
  • DST — 1 team defense / special teams unit required.

Players on bye weeks or injured reserve are still selectable but will score 0 points if they do not play. It is the contestant's responsibility to field an active lineup each week.

02The Burn Rule

The Burn Rule is the defining mechanic of Earn N' Burn. Once a player is placed in your active lineup and their game begins, that player is burned — permanently removed from your available player pool for the rest of the season.

  • A player is burned the moment their game kicks off while in your active lineup.
  • Burned players cannot be selected in any future week, regardless of performance.
  • Players injured before or during a game who are locked in your lineup are still burned for that given week.
Strategy note: The burn rule means your best players are a finite resource. Deploying Patrick Mahomes in Week 1 means he's gone for the remaining 16 weeks. Managing your available pool across all 17 contest weeks is the central strategic challenge of ENB Football.
03Lineup Submission & Lock Times

Lineups may be edited up until 5 minutes before each individual player's scheduled kickoff. Once a player's lineup lock triggers, that player becomes locked and cannot be changed, swapped, or removed from the lineup.

  • Standard lock: The standard lock days and times (in EST) are as follows:
    • Thursday Night — 8:10 PM ET (5 min before 8:15 kickoff)
    • Sunday early slate — 12:55 PM ET (5 min before 1:00 kickoff)
    • Sunday late slate — 3:55–4:00 PM ET (5 min before 4:05/4:25 kickoff)
    • Sunday Night — 8:15 PM ET (5 min before 8:20 kickoff)
    • Monday Night — 8:10 PM ET (5 min before 8:15 kickoff)
  • Exceptions: Throughout the season there are different game time slots outside of the standard times to be aware of. These will be noted directly on your lineup page and within the NFL Schedule sections. As an example, the season starts on Wednesday this year rather than Thursday, and over the Thanksgiving holiday there will be one game on Wednesday, three games on Thursday, and one game on Friday.
  • Lock times are displayed on the Lineup page and are updated each week based on the official NFL schedule.
  • It is the contestant's sole responsibility to submit a lineup before the lock. ENB is not responsible for technical issues on the contestant's device or connection.
  • If no lineup is submitted for a week, the contestant receives a score of 0 ENB points for that week and will be ranked accordingly in the weekly ranks. (more than likely a last place finish unless a team has a negative week).
04Scoring System

ENB Football uses a custom scoring system that rewards big plays and true breakout performances. Unlike standard platforms, touchdowns score differently based on their distance, and milestone yardage bonuses apply. For the interactive score calculator, visit The Scoring System page.

05Weekly Format & Season Length

The ENB Football contest runs for 17 weeks, covering NFL regular season Weeks 1 through 17. Week 18 is excluded from ENB play due to widespread starter rest, inconsistent team motivation, and unpredictable snap‑count volatility. Because Week 18 does not reflect standard competitive conditions, it is not eligible for ENB scoring or lineup submissions.

  • Contestants submit one lineup per week for each of the 17 contest weeks.
  • Each week is scored independently — weekly scores do not carry over or compound.
  • Your ENB Point total for a week is the sum of all 11 active lineup players' fantasy points.
  • Your weekly rank is determined by your ENB Points relative to all other contestants that week.
  • Bye weeks in the NFL schedule reduce available player options — plan accordingly using the Bye Weeks reference in The Armory.
No partial week credit. If a player is injured mid-game, their points up to the injury are counted. There is no make-up or replacement mechanic.
06Season Standings & Tiebreakers

ENB Football does not use cumulative point totals as the primary season standing. Instead, it uses the Rank Score system — a golf-style ranking where lower is better.

  • Each week, every contestant is assigned a rank based on their ENB Points for that week (1st = best).
  • Ties in weekly points result in a shared rank: tied contestants receive the same rank, and the next rank skips accordingly.
  • Your Rank Score is the running sum of your weekly ranks across all 17 weeks.
  • The contestant with the lowest Rank Score at the end of Week 17 wins the season.
Tiebreaker Chain

If two or more contestants finish with identical Rank Scores, the following tiebreakers apply in order:

  1. 1Total ENB Points — higher cumulative season points wins.
  2. 2#1 Weeks — most weekly rank-1 finishes wins.
  3. 3Top-10 Weeks — most top-10 weekly finishes wins.
  4. 4Best Single Week — highest single-week ENB point total wins.
  5. 5If still tied — prize is split equally among tied contestants.
Consistency wins. A contestant who finishes in the top 10 every single week will almost always outrank someone who wins 5 weeks but finishes in the bottom half the other 12. Playing steady beats playing flashy.
